The Craigs were formed in 2006 by singer J.D. Johnson and former Craig, guitarist Scott Blake, who connected via online bulletin board craigslist. Since then, the band has been quietly paying its dues, playing shows in the Toronto area and in cottage country. The current lineup is:
J.D. Johnson Lead vocals, rhythm guitar, mandolin
Paul Magee Vocals, electric guitar
Chris Johnston Vocals, rhythm guitar
Wayne McKenzie Vocals, bass
Bob Fitzgerald Vocals, Drums
Jim Robbins Pedal steel guitar
Rick Bauer Vocals, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, accordion
The band has just recorded its debut CD, One Good Thing, containing ten original songs, all written or co-written by J.D. Johnson, ranging from traditional country shuffle tunes to hard-driving country rock numbers. Produced by Juno-nominee Martin Alex Aucoin, the album features, in addition to the Craigs themselves, some of Canada’s finest session players, including Paul “Chappy” Chapman, Steve Smith, Aaron Soloman, Duncan McBain, and Martin Alex Aucoin.
Bookings
The Craigs are currently accepting bookings for parties, fairs, and events throughout Ontario.
Why Book the Craigs for Your Next Event?
As an event organizer you want your guests to be entertained. The Craigs play pure country music with an emphasis on songs from the Golden Age of the genre, the 1950s and 1960s. The music we play is familiar and popular, and our show mixes good musicianship with a measured amount of humour and dialogue. Just as important, we are professional, reliable, and flexible. Tunes can be added or deleted from our playlist upon request. We usually several popular original tunes as well. References available upon request.
